About FireSlide
In the Beginning...
FireSlide Productions Inc. was created in January of 2009 by Melanie Kastner and Joe Rabbito. It was only natural that they creatively gravitated towards each other because they share similar creative backgrounds and interests. Both creators graduated from the Sheridan/UTM Theatre and Drama studies joint program and have a strong connection with Italian Cinema. After working as professional actors in Toronto for several years they both came together and decided to create FireSlide Productions.
Our Mission:
FireSlide Productions Inc. is dedicated to developing and producing the work of our strongly connected community of artists. We are committed to investing in our audience by creating interesting and innovative events that fuse artistry, artistic mediums and entertainment.
Our Goal:
Our main goal is to nurture and support artists in such a capacity that they are not only creating work but gaining exposure and reaching audiences. What point is it to create and develop work without sharing it? Perhaps it is our teaching background and zest for life that helps infuse our playful mentality. We make a conscious choice to emphasize the quality of interactive show and share in all of our projects. But then we choose to take it a step further by not only creating a network community of artists that empower each other and work together but by exclusively opening our door to those curious and artistically interested audience members. Some of our parties may be exclusive but our creative club isn’t.
We feel very strongly about our audience. We feel that there are many creative events that can leave audiences feeling alienated from an artistic community or industry. We believe this is a problem. Therefore we work ever so thoughtfully to not make our events solely about the work but about the art in combination with the level of enjoyment that one will experience from attending our events. We want to shake hands with you, dance with you, share a drink and good food while laughing together celebrating life, art and each other. We want our audience to feel like they are part of the experience.
